Taking the Nuclear Big Rig to the North East of England

As part of our recent commission by Cogent to pilot our proposals for a mechanical and electrical version of the Nuclear Island event, Oliver travelled to Teeside today to visit NETA and their magnificent four-storey rig, which seems the likely venue for the pilot. Our proposal is to combine the thinking behind the Constructionarium and the Big Rig to create an experiential learning event in which undergraduate students build, operate and dismantle a mock-up of a pressurised water reactor…in a week.
The last time Oliver was in the area, it was to record voxpops with users of the then recently completed Infinity Bridge in Stockton-on-Tees as part of the Infinity Rising exhibition. The area has such rich engineering heritage – it is great to be working there again.
